A different path

Xylia's family built her development around quality coaching, individual technical work, futsal and small-sided games rather than the travel and cost of the national-level club circuit. The goal has never been the biggest badge or the highest league. It has been to become the most complete player she can be.

For several years her technical development has been guided by Coach Attila Nyiri, whose training emphasizes technical mastery, game intelligence, independent decision-making and confidence on the ball. That work, together with playing with Fox Soccer Academy's boys team, has sharpened her vision, spatial awareness and composure under pressure.

She plays creatively and looks to connect with teammates, valuing the pass that creates a chance as much as the goal. That pathway has carried her to the Dominican Republic youth national team, an evaluation with Club Pachuca Femenil in Mexico and selection for the Allstate Sueño Alianza National Showcase. Different pathway, same dream.

Vision and combination play

Looks for spaces before they open and connects with teammates.

Technical trainer: Attila Nyiri

Born in Transylvania, Romania, Nyiri came through club academies there and played for an adult third-division team as a teenager. After moving to the U.S. in 1981 he played college soccer, then studied coaching in Germany and Spain. His site says he now builds an American training curriculum. His full bio.

Coach Jay Myers

Goalkeeping Director and Academy Scout at Fox Soccer Academy. More than 20 years coaching in college and club soccer, including leading the Monroe College women's team from 2019 to 2022 and time at Iona, Manhattan and Marist. Fox Soccer Academy announcement.

Coach Victor Tobar

Academy Director at Fox Soccer Academy New York, overseeing its Warwick, Nirvana, Albany and Tobar Futbol programs. A USSF Coaches Educator and founder of Tobar Futbol Academy. Fox Soccer Academy announcement.

10-yard dash 1.59 sec, 8th of 30

Trainer's letter

Coach Attila Nyiri on Xylia

In a recommendation letter written when she was 12, he calls her footwork, scanning, receiving and turning “impeccable” and says she keeps finding pockets of space to receive. He describes her as “a true pivot, a classic No. 6” who can run a game, and says she picks out the unexpected pass. In his own technical testing, he reports she ranked in the 92nd percentile among 1,500 European academy players.

Technical base

About eight years of training, including roughly four with technical coach Attila Nyiri. Training hours are a family estimate.

Speed of play

Futsal and boys soccer keep raising the tempo of her decisions.

Quiet leadership

Leads through decisions, work rate and consistency. Recognized by her school district as a Collaborator.
